Sidekick Showcase #4

sidekickshowcase

Sidekick Showcase, previously known as Sidekick Saturday, is a weekly bookish meme, hosted here by Jaclyn at JC’s Book Haven. There are many secondary characters that are as great as the primaries. In some cases, the sidekicks actually steal the show and you like them better than the heroine or hero. Maybe they didn’t have enough page time for how great they were. Anyone can play along! I will post my Sidekicks on Saturday, then whichever day during the week that you would like to post yours, you can put your link in on my page. Just do the following:

• Choose a sidekick *or someone other than the hero or heroine* that you would like to put in the spotlight that fit’s in the week’s topic
• Share a picture (if you can) and information about the character
• Give the title and author of a book the character can be found in
• Please don’t include too many spoilers when describing why the character is such a great sidekick
• The day of your post, put your link in below and grab the code for your post so you can see the others that post their’s throughout the week as well

This Weeks Theme Law Enforcement

This is a great topic this week.  I was going to pick Butch from BDB but I think I have done them before, so now I am going to pick a character from my other fave series,  Anita Blake There is alot of law enforcement sidekicks for Anita Blake but my favorite is Edward/Ted.

Edward is a bounty hunter for shifters and Vampires his nickname is Death.  he is a true Psychopath that is trying to have a normal life as Ted who is a friendly southern gentleman and U.S Marshall and then there is Edward his evil side, who is a deadly Assassin.  I love how he loves Anita as a Friend and will do anything to save her, but he is also looking forward to the day that he goes against her and kills her.  It makes for  a dynamic relationship.

“You’re enjoying this, aren’t you?”
I’d feel better if I could guard your back.”
You’re going to do that with a rifle from the closest hill, remember.”
Night vision and scope, fine, but I can’t kill them all from a distance.”
You couldn’t kill them all if you were johnny on the spot, either,” I said.
No but I’d feel better.”
Worried about me?” He shrugged.
I’m your bodyguard. If you die under my protection, the other bodyguards will make fun of me.” It took me a second to realize he was making a joke. Harley looked back at him with an almost surprised look. I don’t think either of us heard humor from Edward much.”

  1. Edward/Ted sounds like quite the character, Jodie. 🙂 I’ve only read a few books in this series but I don’t think I’ve met him yet…but it has been a long while. But I think I’d remember a psychopath trying to live as a southern gentleman! LOL Someday, I’ll catch up in this series. Butch is fantastic too! 😉

  2. Yes the two sides definitely make for a dynamic character. Your choice is truly a great one here. You’re right that there are a lot of characters from this series to choose from, but he’s a crazy one worth taking note of. So different from all the other characters to be found. Butch also is a great choice as well.

Would you like me to link up your post so everyone will know to stop by to see who you chose? I didn’t know you had posted a sidekick this week, I was just stopping by to see you. Let me know! I hope you are having a fantastic weekend 😀 Jaclyn @ JC’s Book Haven.

  3. Oooh…. I think I have to try the Anita Blake series…. I think I may like Edward!! I do love Butch from BDB, and how he was able to cement his place in the team!! Great choices!!

  4. Oh, I really like this Edward character. Sounds like you can never fully trust him, but can’t help but love. You’re selling me on this series. 22 books, Jodie! Or is it 23?
