Until she meets a boy with a bad reputation who sparks something in her—Caleb Harrison, whose anger and loss might just match Emma’s own. Feeling her own heart beat again wakes Emma from the grief that has grayed her existence. Is there hope for life after death—and maybe, for love?

Caleb is the bad boy, he comes from a rich family but rebels through doing drugs and stealing cars, currently doing community service of Emma’s mother’s ward we learn that Caleb is haunted by grief that can help Emma and bring them together.
Heart beat should be called heartbreak and you definitely need the tissues for this one. Heart beat is emotional, raw and heart breaking account of the grief felt when we lose the most important person closest to us. I loved how we get to see the emotions being played out not just by Emma but by everyone surrounding her, Emma and her Anger, Dan and his grief and despair, Olivia who want to fix things for Emma but is frustrated in how Emma is treating everyone and Caleb who is feeling grief and guilt over the loss of his sister.
You will enjoy this touching story if you loved the Fault in our stars, It is a Must Read.
