Sydney Sage is an Alchemist, one of a group of humans who dabble in magic and serve to bridge the worlds of humans and vampires. They protect vampire secrets – and human lives.
In The Indigo Spell, Sydney was torn between the Alchemist way of life and what her heart and gut were telling her to do. And in one breathtaking moment that Richelle Mead fans will never forget, she made a decision that shocked even her. . . .
But the struggle isn’t over for Sydney. As she navigates the aftermath of her life-changing decision, she still finds herself pulled in too many directions at once. Her sister Zoe has arrived, and while Sydney longs to grow closer to her, there’s still so much she must keep secret. Working with Marcus has changed the way she views the Alchemists, and Sydney must tread a careful path as she harnesses her profound magical ability to undermine the way of life she was raised to defend. Consumed by passion and vengeance, Sydney struggles to keep her secret life under wraps as the threat of exposure — and re-education — looms larger than ever.
Pulses will race throughout this smoldering fourth installment in the New York Times bestselling Bloodlines series, where no secret is safe.
Another Fantastic story from Ms Mead, The Fiery Heart follows Sydney Sage as she still struggles to keep everyone in line as well as trying to find herself and what she should do with her life.
The Fiery heart takes a turn from the previous Bloodlines stories as this one is written in duel POV’s which usually I do not enjoy but wow it so worked with this story. We really get to see the characters evolving throughout this book, with Adrian and Sydney’s forbidden romance, Zoe moving on from a spoilt brat to a somewhat less spoiled brat. What I loved the most was having a voyeuristic view of inside Adrian’s head, and how spirit affects him, from the dangerous party boy and alcoholic, to a sensitive and responsible Adrian, He hasn’t changed enough to hate him, it really makes you love him more, you get a more in-depth view on how he ticks.
Although a little slow in the start, once things start happening you can’t put it down, I loved the added element to having Zoe at the school, who really gets on your nerves and you feel like slapping her a lot of the time, she adds a different dynamic to the characters especially as she is die-hard alchemist.
My favourite part of the book was Adrian’s far out escape plans, and how They should just take off and live happily ever after, even though they know that their relationship is taboo and law breaking with some serious consequences for Sydney if they were to be discovered.
I highly recommend this book / series, the characters are amazing , the story-line entertaining and the cliffhanger OMG! I need Silver Shadows Now.
